The Yugawara Plum Grove "Ume no Utage" will be held from February 6 (Sat) to March 7 (Sun), Reiwa 9. Having continued since Heisei 8, this year marks its 32nd event.
Against the backdrop of the majestic nature of Makuyama, about 4,000 red and white ume trees bloom in full glory like a "carpet of ume," filling the park with a subtle fragrance of ume. The sight of the entire area covered in red and white ume blossoms is breathtakingly beautiful.
For those who are confident in their legs, we recommend taking the hiking trail to the summit while enjoying the ume blossoms. There are also rare ume trees where both red and white blossoms bloom from the same tree.
After enjoying the ume, why not visit the food stalls at the foot of the mountain? You can enjoy local specialties and souvenirs of Yugawara, seasonal ume soft-serve ice cream, and comforting warm amazake, along with other unique Yugawara gourmet foods and seasonal items.
The admission fee is a budget-friendly 300 yen, and a great bonus is that guests staying overnight in Yugawara Town and local residents can enter for free. (Please inquire with your accommodation.)
Dates are based on the organizers' announcements and may change with the weather or the bloom. Please check the official information before you go.
