Choosing Umeshu
Umeshu tastes very different depending on the base spirit and sweetness. What to look for, and popular bottles now.
What to look for
- The base spirit (white liquor, brandy, sake and so on) is listed in the ingredients and changes the aroma and body.
- The alcohol content is on the label. Choose for how you drink it: on the rocks, with soda or with hot water.
- For less sweetness, look for descriptions such as "less sweet" or "dry".
- In Japan, drinking alcohol under the age of 20 is prohibited by law.
