Kenrokuen Plum Grove and Kanazawa Castle Park: A Famous Ume Tour in Kanazawa in March
Kenrokuen's plum grove features about 20 varieties and 200 trees of famous ume collected from across the country. The best time to view is from mid-March. Combined with Kanazawa Castle Park, this is a route to enjoy the spring in the Hokuriku region.
Kenrokuen's plum grove was created in 1969 as part of the Meiji Centennial Commemorative Project. Approximately 20 varieties and 200 trees of famous ume, donated from all over Japan, are planted in an area of about 3,000 square meters. Ume in the Hokuriku region bloom later than elsewhere, and various types of ume are in full bloom from mid-March. Fees, hours, and access information are based on the official website (checked in October 2026). As details may change from year to year, please check the official website before your departure.
