The plum festival at Agawa Ume no Sato in Kamiyama Town, Tokushima Prefecture. In 2026 it ran from Sunday, March 1 to Sunday, March 15, and the blossoms are at their best from late February to mid-March. About 10,000 ume trees turn the village pink, making it one of the largest plum groves in the prefecture.
In 2026 the opening was held on March 1 in the grounds of the former Agawa Elementary School (next to the Agawa Community Hall), with a ribbon-cutting, a lion dance, mochi-throwing and, in the afternoon, a plum-stone-spitting contest. On March 8 there were a 5 km health walk and workshops making chopsticks from new plum branches and moss gardens.
Entry is free and there is parking. Enquiries: Agawa Community Hall (Plum Festival Committee, 088-678-0332).
