The Kishu Ishigami Tanabe Plum Grove in Tanabe, one of Japan's main ume-growing towns, opens only while the trees are in bloom. In 2026 it was open from Monday, February 9 to Sunday, March 8, about 9:00–17:00, with free entry.
During the season there was the "Ishigami market" of local produce, a lunch box made by local mothers (900 yen, booking needed) and a stamp rally. February 11 (a national holiday) was the Baikasai, the annual festival of Kishu Tenmangu Shrine in the grove, with a plum juice-making activity (500 yen).
