Hirohashi Plum Grove

A plum grove of about 5,000 trees on roughly 25 hectares of the northern slope of Hirohashi Pass in Shimoichi, Nara, counted among the prefecture's three great plum groves with Tsukigase and Ano. White, red and pale pink flowers, single and double, bloom with views over Mount Kongo, Mount Katsuragi and the Yamato Plain.

There are walking paths through the grove: the "Bairin Manki" course from the Hirohashi-toge bus stop to Shimoichi Onsen Akitsuso (about 2.5 km one way, about 40 minutes on foot), and the climb of about 150 m from the bus stop to the "Tenshu no Mori" viewpoint (about 600 m one way, 15 minutes). The "Ume no Satoyama Matsuri" is held on a Sunday in mid-March every year.
