The plum festival in the "Keiryu no Baien" (stream-side plum garden) of Odawara Flower Garden; in 2026 it ran from January 24 to March 1. About 500 ume trees of some 300 varieties bloom in turn from early to late varieties, at their best from late January to early March. It is also one of the venues of the Odawara Plum Festival.
Each variety has an explanation, so you can compare the flowers as you walk. During the festival there were kimono rental and dressing, and workshops making bonsai ume, plum-blossom pinwheels and plant dyeing with red plums, plus a quiz rally for children. The garden café serves a limited-time "plum festival soba".
Dates are based on the organizers' announcements and may change with the weather or the bloom. Please check the official information before you go.
