Characteristics

Its name comes from the way the sun-exposed parts of the fruit turn red as they ripen. It is characterized by its small seeds and thick flesh, and is one of the four varieties of "Fukui Ume" from Fukui Prefecture.

  • Umeboshi: Results in a thick, plump texture.
  • Umeshu
